A fanlisting is simply an online listing of fans of a subject, such as a TV show, actor, or musician, that is created by an individual and open, and free, for fans from around the world to join. They are just a place where you can have your name listed along with other fans of the same subject.
This is the fanlisting for the relationship between Jack Bauer and Chloe O'Brian from the TV show 24 as well as for Jack Bauer/Chloe O'Brian (het) fanfiction. (If you're wondering what the het part means, it's short for 'heterosexual' and denotes fanfic depicting a romantic or sexual relationship between opposite genders.)
So, why Jack & Chloe? I think their relationship really works on several levels. Personally, I can easily see them not only as co-workers but also as friends and as a romantically involved couple, and yes, given the right circumstances, I could even see them as adversaries. But, first and foremost, I see them as two people who depend on and trust each other above all else, whether out of sheer necessity or not.
Yeah, they aren't the most obvious, or the most conventional, couple out there in TV land, and to tell you the truth I wasn't always so fond of the idea of them together myself. The first time I ever thought they'd make an awesome couple was at the end of the fourth season of 24 when I saw Chloe out in the field, shooting the bad guy who was out to get her. Talk about a jaw-dropping moment!
And yes, I know the show itself is most likely never going to go the Jack & Chloe way in a romantic sense, but that's exactly why fanfic was invented. ;)
